It involves building a community of people who share common intrest .The user interacts through chats,messaging,Email,video,
Voice chat,blogging and discussion groups.This is a new concept and it has revolutionized the way we communicate with each other.There are various social networking sites like Orkut and Facebook which have started a new trend in communication.It has become a part of everyday life.It raises a big question as to if it infringes on our privacy.
Man is a social animal .Social Networking is a trend,a habit,and an addiction.It is impacting the everyday lives of youngsters.It helps us to find old Pals,make new friends,share photos and also hunt for jobs.
In todays world we find many youngsters spending many hours on the internet.So finding friends on the net seems to be the must thing to do.People log on to these sites because it helps them to make friends and be part of a community.
Advantages of social networking
1.The joy of interacting with people you have a lot in common but living thousands of miles away could be amajor motivational factor in joining such a community.
2.Social networking are a great way to catch up with old friends and meet interesting people.
3.They also promote social skills.
But this can also be potentially dangerous.We need to educate our children on the right practices to be followed while using these sites.They are
1.We should only log on to good and quality sites which does not misuse personal information provided by you.
2.Never reveal your address,phone number,Email Id or any other personal information.
3.Never add a stranger as a friend.
4.If you are planning to meet someone whom you have met online do not meet him in a secluded place and avoid meeting him alone.
5.Never click any link that come from strangers in messages or E Mails.`
6.Never use abusive or inappropriate language.
7.Never use these sites to spread rumour.
Online networking has become such an integral part of students lives that it has become a major distraction.
Cyber bullying is becoming more common as teenagers take advantage of their anonymity and abuse or ridicule their peers.Regardless of whether an individual feels that the networking websites are making a positive or a negative impact social networking is doing intrinsic good.The positives outweigh the negatives and online networking will keep providing a means of effective correspondence between people of all ages.
It has coined the term”Relationship” under a whole new light.But we should always remember that we will always be able to maintain relationship with people whom we care.
